Tip lead, sometimes called lead change, is the horizontal component of a balanced athletic stance. See how it is the vertical height between the feet along with "equal ankle angles" that determine the amount of tip lead. The Professor will use anatomy to explain how efficient angulation is only possible via tip lead.

Should you teach a stivot? Nope, and Dan & Ron will explain why. Should you teach the skills of a stivot? Yep. Practice the skills of pivot and sideslip (both fast and dynamic), master a carved turn in the fall-line, and the stivot will follow. First the athlete needs an arc-to-arc turn, then a re-direct, then the stivot. This progression will also lead to a shortened pressure phase resulting i...

Good stuff although I'd personally rather do it in the snow where I wasn't putting holes in my ski pants and tearing up my boots...

Is the blue line on the graph suppose to be the vertical force?

I'm wondering what difference would occur if the ski was rockered on the tip?

The blue line is the left force plate. The one toward the ski tip. Vertical force is the gray line.

Opps, wrote on the wrong line about the vertical force. If the tip was rockered values would probably be less for the ankle flex and movement of the CoM forward. The down unweighting would be interesting because there seems to be a slap which results in the a positive value. The rockered tip might enhance this value.
